As soon as he could hold a crayon, Carl’s unwavering focus on visual creativity has truly shaped his life. Artfully juggling equal passions for design, typography and illustration, he has crafted a diverse and successful career. His multifaceted skill set enables him to service a variety of clients and categories from coast to coast and beyond.
A graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York, Carl also studied at the École cantonale d’art de Lausanne in Switzerland. After cutting his teeth at R. H. Macy and Co., Landor New York & Landor San Francisco, Carl successfully built and continues to run his own thriving practice for nearly two decades. Using his unique combination of visual and strategic skills, he has developed compelling solutions for the American, European and Asian markets.
Among his most recognizable achievements are the brand identities for Pizza Hut, Glade and ShopRite, as well as packaging for IVXX, Coors Light, Blue Moon, Taco Bell, and many others.
He is especially proud of his work on the Italia and District 8 branding programs, and his extensive illustration work for Publix Supermarkets.
At his recent post as Senior Creative Director at Anthem Worldwide in San Francisco, he lead numerous identity, packaging, digital and marketing initiatives. Among his successes are the branding and digital programs for Raphael House & Coro of Northern California. Carl also spearheaded the comprehensive, highly successful program for IVXX Cannabis.
Invigorated by new design challenges, Carl’s goal is to consistently deliver astounding work and motivate others to do the same. Truly a mentor at heart, he has taught at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco and has lectured at the University of San Francisco on branding and design.
Born with a fascination for travel and a healthy obsession for beautiful design, Carl is an avid collector of both Sputnik & Steamship Normandie memorabilia, and a devotee of mid-century architecture & industrial design.
